Complex trauma and Limb deformities are successfully managed at this Centre using internal and external fixation. The Centre effectively performs an encouraging number of joint replacement surgeries too. Even though there has been a rapid advance in the field of internal fixation in recent years, external fixation still has a crucial role in the management of complex trauma and deformity correction. Ring fixators (otherwise known as Ilizarov fixators) as well as Limb Reconstruction System (LRS) have revolutionized Reconstructive Orthopedic Surgery since its invention by Sir Gavril Ilizarov in the latter half of the last century. With the addition of computer assisted hexapod correction systems, the procedure have become totally hassle free to the surgeon and beneficial to the patient. This Center was the first to Introduce Ortho–SUV, the Russian Computer Assisted Six-axis Correction System, in the state and till date a good number of external fixation surgeries of all the three varieties — Conventional Ilizarov, Ortho-SUV and LRS — have been successfully performed, at the Centre.
